The vehicle had a thumping sensation on gear changes and felt like the engine was surging. The customer had already had a new transfer case fitted and various other driveline parts replaced, however the issue remained.

A road test confirmed the customer complaint. The fault felt very similar to an engine misfire, although the engine started and ran normally at idle and under general operation.
