The malfunction indicator lamp illuminates intermittently and the vehicle goes into limp mode.

The vehicle had a history of multiple visits to the dealership for the same intermittent fault, where the customer's winch and driving lights had been disconnected, a complete set of injectors had been fitted, and some wiring repairs had reportedly been carried out on the left hand side without resolving the issue. The fault was highly intermittent, occurring as often as five times within 20 km on some drives but staying clear for up to 500 km on others. The customer noted the fault was more likely to appear after washing the vehicle following four wheel driving.
