The customer reported that after approximately 10 minutes of driving, the engine surged between 2,000 and 3,000 rpm while stopped at traffic lights. On take-off, the vehicle had very little power and the check engine light came on. After switching the engine off for 5 minutes and restarting, the fault cleared and had not reoccurred.

A scan of the engine ECU confirmed a stored throttle control fault code. A visual inspection of the related engine bay wiring and connectors found no obvious wiring damage or disconnection. Further testing showed excessive crankcase vacuum at idle, indicating an intake or vacuum leak related to the crankcase ventilation system.
