Customer Complaint

The engine cranked normally but would not start after the tappet cover gasket was replaced. The engine would run on aerosol but stopped when the external fuel source was removed.

Problem Summary

No fault codes were stored. Fuel supply to the high-pressure pump, air ingress, fuel return, rail pressure sensor and regulator were checked. The fuel rail, high-pressure pump, camshaft and crankshaft sensors, airflow meter and MAP sensor were substituted with known-good components without resolving the fault.

Camshaft and crankshaft signals were present. The ECM and immobiliser operated correctly when tested in another vehicle. No injector command was observed, including while the engine was running on aerosol.
